Jack Bixler
FOUNDER & MANAGING PRINCIPAL
John “Jack” Bixler is the Founder and Managing Principal of Spruce Financial Group. Jack oversees all investor relations, asset management, due diligence, underwriting, and operational aspects of the firm. Prior to Spruce, Jack was affiliated with an Atlanta-based investment banking firm that focused primarily on alternative lending where he worked sourcing, funding, and managing mezzanine and senior secured private business loans for roughly 4 years. Prior to this, Jack was a Financial Analyst in the Corporate Development department at Cotiviti, an Atlanta-based auditing firm which at the time served 21 of the top 25 U.S. healthcare insurance payers. During his tenure, he worked on the company’s largest post-IPO acquisition at that time, the purchase of Roadmap for $70M cash. Jack has experienced personally investing in alternatives and has led or been a participant in multiple private equity and direct partnerships. Between 2019 and 2020, he syndicated, stabilized, and ultimately sold a 52 home single-family rental portfolio located in Central Georgia using 94% debt financing with no negative cash flow. Jack is also the sponsor and asset manager of two student housing apartment communities consisting of 216 beds at Florida State University.
Jack attended Florida State University for an undergraduate degree before earning his M.B.A. at The Georgia Institute of Technology with a concentration in Quantitative and Computational Finance. Jack holds FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 securities licenses. While not at work, Jack enjoys visiting the Gulf coast, fishing, diving, yard work, Florida State football, and playing golf. Jack is a native of Tallahassee Florida and resides currently in Brookhaven, Georgia with his wife and their dog, Charlie.
Rudy Banerjee
MAnaging Director
Rudy Banerjee is a Director at Spruce Financial group. His responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, doing intake on new loan requests, as well as supporting the transaction and closing process. Rudy maintains relationships with other co-investment firms, investment bankers, brokers, and portfolio companies directly. Rudy has over twenty years of experience in the financial services industry in trading, research, and underwriting credit risk. Prior to joining Spruce full time, Rudy was the head of Finance at Hammoq, a Florida-based E-Commerce company, where he led a successful $3M seed-stage round and set up their Merchant Cash Advances (MCA) division. Prior to Hammoq, Rudy held positions with Soros Fund Management and Goldman Sachs where he was a trader in international equities, and a prime brokerage risk analyst focused on trade settlement efficiencies, respectively. Rudy’s time at Goldman was during the rise of Quantitative High-Frequency Trading “HFT” funds and he worked to address the operational need for trading platforms to accommodate intra-second trades, typically of currencies. 
In his spare time, Rudy writes about cryptocurrency, precious metals, and growth companies for Nicoya Research, an investment publication with thousands of subscribers. Rudy holds an MBA from The Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Stern School of Business, New York University. When he is not working or writing, he spends time with his wife and their two children and is an avid collector of sports memorabilia.
Luke Mersberger
ANALYST
Luke Mersberger is an analyst at Spruce Financial group. Luke Joined Spruce as a summer intern before transitioning into a full-time analyst position. Prior to Spruce, Luke worked at Rollins Financial, an Atlanta-based RIA, where he assisted financial advisors to execute trades, monitor portfolios, and analyze asset allocation strategies for clients. At Spruce, Luke focuses primarily on initial intake on new opportunities, research and financial modeling, operational support, and communicating with investors and partner firms. He is a current member of the Terry College of Business within the UGA Honors College and is an analyst with the University’s Student Managed Fund, which oversees part of the school’s endowment. Originally from Marietta, GA, Luke enjoys spending time with his dog, Mumford, and woodworking while not at the office.
